Missionomics ("Missionomics," "we," "us," or "our") operates missionomics.com (the "Service"), a tool that helps you build and track investment portfolios aligned with your personal values. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. Authentication is handled by our identity provider, Clerk. When you create an account, Clerk collects information such as your email address and, depending on how you choose to sign up, a password (never seen or stored by us) or credentials from a social login provider. We receive a Clerk user ID and basic profile details (e.g. name/username, email) needed to run your account.
Portfolio and preference data. We store the values/causes you care about, slider and keyword preferences, companies and funds you build or save, your sandbox/paper-trading activity, and any funds you choose to publish to the community leaderboard.
Contact form submissions. If you use our contact form, we store your message and any name or email you optionally provide, along with a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address (not the raw IP itself) used for spam and abuse prevention.
Usage and technical data. Like most web services, our hosting and server infrastructure automatically logs basic technical information (e.g. IP address, browser type, timestamps, pages requested) for security, debugging, and rate-limiting. We do not currently use third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising cookies.
Cookies and local storage. Clerk sets cookies/local storage necessary to keep you signed in. The app itself uses your browser's local storage to save in-progress portfolio selections on your device so you don't lose your work. We don't use cookies for third-party ad tracking.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and secure the Service — including your account, saved portfolios, and the community leaderboard.
- To respond to messages sent through the contact form.
- To send you service-related email notifications (e.g. via Resend) when necessary.
- To understand how the product is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues.
3. Advertising: In-App Personalization Only
We may, in the future, show targeted content or advertising within the Service. If we do, that targeting will be based only on your activity inside Missionomics — such as which values dimensions, causes, or companies you've expressed interest in, or how you've built your portfolio.
We will not base advertising on your personal information, your browsing activity on other websites, or data purchased or shared from outside sources. We do not currently participate in any cross-site advertising or tracking networks.
4. What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.
- We do not use cross-site tracking, browsing history from other sites, or third-party data brokers to target ads to you.
- We do not sell or trade the contents of your portfolios or your identity to advertisers, data brokers, or research firms.
We do share limited data with the service providers described in Section 7 below, strictly so they can perform the technical functions (hosting, authentication, email delivery, market data) that make the Service work — never so they can sell or market to you independently.
5. Data Retention
We retain account and portfolio data for as long as your account is active, so the Service keeps working the way you expect. Contact form submissions are retained as long as reasonably needed to respond and to prevent abuse. If you delete your account or ask us to delete your data (see Section 6), we will delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain limited records to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You can review and update most of your account information directly through Clerk's account settings. You may also:
- Request a copy (export) of the personal data we hold about you.
- Request that we delete your account and associated data.
- Ask questions about what data we hold or how it's used.
To make any of these requests, use the Contact form in the app, or email us (see Section 11). We'll do our best to respond promptly.
7. Third-Party Service Providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate the Service. Each processes only the data needed to perform its function, under its own privacy and security practices:
- Clerk — handles account creation, sign-in, and authentication sessions.
- Resend — delivers transactional emails (e.g. contact form notifications).
- Market data provider — supplies public market/price data used to power portfolio simulations; this data is about companies and markets, not about you.
- Railway — hosts our application and database infrastructure.
We may update this list as our vendors change; material changes will be reflected in updates to this policy.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encrypted connections, hashed sensitive identifiers (e.g. IP hashing on contact submissions), and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
Missionomics is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the Service evolves. We'll update the "last updated" date above, and for significant changes we'll make a reasonable effort to notify you (e.g. via an in-app notice). Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
11. Contact Us
Questions about this policy, or requests regarding your data, can be sent through the Contact form on our homepage, or by email at [email protected].
